Your Sunday Best #23 ~ Geraniums

I love my perennial geraniums which surround the heirloom roses in the center of my garden!
The poor little things have to work so hard to be seen, and
really don't get the attention they deserve!

Photo Art Friday/June 22 through 24 ~ Vintage

Bonnie's challenge was to create a vintage-looking piece of photo art!
Bonnie also made it soooo easy to do by gifting us three beautiful vintage textures;
Nitty Gritty, Age It and Vintage Craquelure
and I was having way too much fun to do just one!
pdpa texture 'Age It', linear light@76% and Shadowhouse PhotoTint, colorburn@27%
pdpa 'Age It', vivid light@100%, pdpa 'Nitty Gritty', hard light@80% & Shadowhouse PhotoTint, color burn@36%
pdpa 'Vintage Craquelure', vivid light@71%, pdpa 'Nitty Gritty', hard light@80% and Shadowhouse PhotoTint, colorburn@36%
The one below I did just a tad bit differently; rather than age the photo with textures,
I played around in levels, using the red and blue tones, to age the photo
and was pleased with the results.
 Felt it was appropriate to use only old fashion flowers to add a perfect vintage touch!

My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams.
The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful."   Abram L. Urban

My thanks to Bonnie for her creativity, generosity and for hosting Photo Art Friday!

Flower Art Friday ~ Special Edition ~ Roses

LeAnne is celebrating her birthday this week
and the theme for the Special Edition Flower Art Friday is roses.

Although I no longer seriously grow roses,
at one time I had over 30 roses that I tended, loved and cared for.

I do have four heirloom roses that grow in the center of my circular garden,
chosen primarily for their low maintenance!

The roses shown are from an arrangement which I have rendered two different ways.

The birth flower for June is the rose;
in the language of flowers, roses mean passion and beauty.
Birth month flowers were originally chosen because that is when the flower blooms
or is at the peak of it's growing season during that month

Happy Birthday LeAnne!

52 Photos Project ~ Gallery 9 {Summertime Colors}

Bella's challenge this week is to post Summertime Colors
so out the door I went, with camera in hand,
to capture photos of my summertime pots on the patio!
My patio is large and I break it up by having islands
of plants set at multiple levels is bright colored pots.

Even by dividing up the space, I still have room for three seating arrangements
and it still allows me a dining area for serving up to eight!

The glorious sun shines bright on my patio
except for along the east side wall, where there is shade in the early morning!

The east wall is covered by Virginia Creeper
and there is a small strip for a garden.
Instead of planting, I chose to place my four multicolored ice cream chairs in the garden
as plant stands to hold colorful pots that I plant each spring
along with hanging pots, chimes and a garden angel!
