Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #68 {artistic autumn}

As we near Thanksgiving, I would like Lori, the host of Mandarin Orange Monday,
to know how much I appreciate her willingness to give of herself
by creating a site that allows myself and many others to share their work.

Thank you.

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #67 {New Mexico Sunset}

“Orange? Like Effie's hair?" I say.
"A bit more muted," he says. "More like sunset.”

52 Photos Project ~ Gallery 29 {Round}

The photo was taken of the bronze statute of Kateri Tekakwitha
outside the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica in Santa Fe, NM.

Kateri Tekakwitha, a Catholic American Indian who became known as the Lily of the Mohawks
 was named the first Native American saint by Pope Benedict XVI in a ceremony held in St. Peter's Square in October of 2012.

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #65 {autumn colors}

We have had a strange fall, not the glorious colors of a typical fall ...
rather bursts of color here and there.
We have also had a lot of early hard freezes,
which caused a lot of the leaves to just turn brown

While at the Capitol this past week, there were spots of color
which I took advantage of for Mandarin Orange Monday.

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #64 {sharing the obvious}

52 Photos Project ~ Gallery 26 {First Thing I See}

A week ago today I brought home two new companions from the Santa Fe Humane Society.

This is what I now see first thing every morning, and it fills my heart with joy!

October ~ Photo Art Friday {clouds}

“We pledge to fight 'blue-sky thinking wherever we find it.
Life would be dull if we had to look up at cloudless monotony day after day.”
  Gavin Pretor-Pinney, The Cloudspotter's Guide
I have always thought that New Mexico has the most beautiful clouds.

52 Photos Project ~ Gallery 24 {seasonal color / gold}

When I first read Bella's notice for this weeks photo project, I only saw "gold".

In preperation I chose a photo taken at Pena Palace, a World Heritage Site, in Sintra, Portugal.

When I went to post the photo, is when I realized it was "seasonal color/gold".
So seasonal color is what I've posted,

 but you still get to see Pena Palace!

52 Photos Project ~ Gallery 23 {in the circle}

Posting seems to be hit or miss, just haven't been interested in picking up my camera ...
a lot of energy being spent elsewhere I guess.

BUT I have missed participating in Bella's 52 Photos Project.

Mandarin Orange Monday #60 {fall is in the air}

Maybe not to this extreme
but our days and nights are getting so cool,
and there is a crispness in the air
that turns one's thoughts to
autumn.

 The original kitty photo was taken in Greece, one of many cats that live on the streets
and are provided for by the generous and loving nature of the Greek people.

September 19, 1919 ~ Happy Birthday

Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes by dozens and hundreds.
Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers, and sisters, aunts and cousins,
but only one mother in the whole world.
Kate Douglas Wiggin

The Aegean Sea {Adobe LightRoom 5}

I've not posted many (any?) photos from my trip to Syros,
an island in the Aegean Sea for several reasons:

#1: I took a ton of photos and it takes a lot of time to view, edit and preview;
#2: I had purchased LR 5 to edit the photos, which was awaiting my return from Greece:
#3: My Dell was tired and I'd maxed out the memory, not with documents, but with programs;
#4: Purchased a new Dell;
#5: It takes forever to reload all my programs and I'm still not finished; but
#6: I have started a s-l-o-w integration into LR5.

What little I have used LR5 I'm liking it
and love the way it is able to bring out the detail
that is lost somewhere between my eye and the photo.

The program is anything but second nature as I struggle through the adjustments
and I am thankful Cntrl Z will still "undo" the previous adjustment!

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #57 {grunge}

Sherre Hulbert, co-host of Arttechniques Digital
made some grunge brushes for a challenge that I have been wanting to play with.

Because of the photo I chose to play with fit the theme for Mandarin Orange Monday,
that is what I'm posting this week.

Hope you all had a great, long Labor Day Weekend;
my sister and I traveled to Oklahoma City
to spend time with our dear friend and sister Lori.

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #56 {cactus}

The photo of the cactus blossom was taken in Greece.

The cactus was growing amongst grape vines, such a startling concept for me ...
our cactus grows in the middle of a lot of dirt and shrub!
