spring has always been a little iffy

in the high mountain desert,
but the wet heavy snow is a much needed source of moisture!

lilac time!

Santa Fe was once known as the City of Lilacs.
So many have gone by the wayside, including those that once filled and bloomed in the Plaza.

My home has many old lilacs (50+ years);
I have planted more along the back wall and Persian Laceleaf lilacs in the front.

I love lilacs and so look forward to the abundance of blooms and the magnificent fragrance.

maybe it really is spring!

Never intending to be a doubting Thomas,
I often am when the old apricot tree blooms just before a winter storm warning is in the forecast!

Ah, but I was wrong!  And while there was snow above 8,000 feet,
we experienced a soft rain for about 18 hours which was magnificent!

With daytime temps in the low 60's,
the red leaf peach has decided to join the apricot and fill my day with delight!

I really have no idea what the little tree below is.
(It's a sucker I thought might be a chokecherry, but it's not.)
 It is in the most awkward place, receiving minimal sun ...
but it is so sweet and loves to bloom filling my heart with joy!
