A few weeks ago I posted photo's of 10-year-old JC cutting calves out of the herd for branding.

This week it's an action photo of JC putting his practical experience to use in a

cutting competition at the Rocking Horse Ranch in Moriarity, NM.

Mandarin Orange Monday ~ #47 {wildfire sunset}

Wildfires have been burning throughout the state,

three of the fires near Santa Fe.

The capture below was taken a couple of weeks ago

of a vibrant sunset caused by a fire burning in the Jemez Mountains.

None of the fires have been human caused;

the fires were started by dry lightening or downed power lines due to high winds.

I normally plant my nasturtiums in the garden

this year I planted them in pots for the patio

now I'm holding my breath that they will come up!

Mandarin Orange Monday 44 ~ Branding Time

Branding at the ranch in Hope last weekend.

It was JC's job to separate the calves out from the herd for branding;

he did an excellent job with no help at all and JC is ten years old!

Guarantee you though, he had lots of guardian angels!

Three Muses ~ Music Challenge

I'll be traveling to Greece this summer, 15 days on the Island of Syros to attend the Festival of the Aegean,

take in the sights, do a little island hopping and to enjoy the ambiance of Greece.
